- I. THE PRICE OF RAW MATEIAL FOR PANGASIUS INCREASING AT NOVEMER
According to Vasep, nearly 1 month, the price of pangasius in the Mekong Delta has risen again, specifically in early October 2020, the price of raw material for pangasius remained at 18,500 VND/kg, now it has increased to 23,500 VND/kg. Pangasius prices will continue to increase in the coming time. The farming area is controlled and manage of supply and demand for pangasius are strictly controlled.
Looking back at the prices of 2018 and 2019, prices in 2019 have dropped deeply, causing many famers to lose. When prices are as high as in October 2018 (32,000 VND / kg), the famers from Long An, Dong Thap, Vinh Long, An Giang, Can Tho city, there appeared a situation of farmers digging tunnels to raise fingerlings to fish. It was the rushing and disorderly involvement of fishermen that caused the price of pangasius to fall deeply, leading to a series of businesses (enterprises) and individual farming households to lose.
Towards the stability and sustainable development of the commodity industry, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has issued many breakthrough policies to revive the pangasius industry. Specifically, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has focused on investing in a 3-level pangasius breeding program for the community to have healthy and disease-free seed. At the same time, to mobilize provinces not to develop new farming areas and promote restructuring of commodity lines towards quality, safety, and traceability.
- II. PANGASIUS INDUSTRY HAS FLOURISED AND PRICE OF PANGASIUS ARE RISISNG, THE FAMERS INITIALLY CUT LOSSES.
Pangasius industry has flourished again, this is good news for both businesses and farmers at the end of the year. From January to September 2020, due to the effects of the Covid – 19 epidemic, the famers were very rude due to the low raw material prices.
