  1. I. PRODUCTION OF PANGASIUS HARVEST IN Q2, THE MAIN SIZE IN Q4 WILL BE BIGGER SIZES.

According to statistics of the General Department of Fisheries of Vietnam, Pangasius production till the end of June 2020 is estimated at 587.3 thousand tons, down 15% compared to the same period last year. In the third and fourth quarters, Big size of pangasius account for the majority of the next harvest.

Raw pangasius material price is falling sharply due to slow consumption in two main markets are the US and China due to covid 19. The Famer have to lose from 3.000 – 5.000 VND to create 1 kilogram of raw material. They serious money loss. Besides that, the saltwater intrusion takes place in the Mekong Delta, they can’t start the new crop

“The main size in Q4 will be bigger sizes; smaller sizes will be short, and especially 6/8 will be very short.” That mean the price for small size is higher than big size. Due to Covid-19, the famers don’t harvest their farm therefore the size of raw material is very big. Some packers they can’t supply the small size this time.

  1. II. INFORMATION OF MARKET FOR SEAFOOD.
  1. PANGASIUS

According to VASEP, Vietnam’s pangasius export value to three markets of China – Hong Kong, Singapore, and the UK in April 2020 grew positively by 20.1%; 127.6%, and 20.3%, respectively. By the end of April 2020, the total export value of pangasius reached US $449.5 million, down nearly 27% over the same period in 2019. Most of the major importers (among the top 10 largest importers of Vietnamese pangasius) all slid. On the contrary, exports to Singapore rose by 12.7% and that to the UK lifted by 1.1% over the same period in 2019.

  1. MARINE FISH – TUNA

The Covid-19 pandemic continues to affect Vietnam’s tuna exports to markets. By the end of April 2020, Vietnam’s total tuna export value reached US$ 196 million, down 16% compared to the same period in 2019. So far, Vietnam’s tuna exports to markets have not been signs of recovery. However, there are also some good signals from import markets such as Japan and Egypt. Tuna exporters are also trying to expand exports to new markets to offset the decline in traditional markets.
